WMA Convention Safety Provisions
Update on WMA’s Mobile Convention & Tradeshow, October 4-7:
As the COVID-19 Delta variant proposes new challenges, health and safety continues to be WMA’s top priority.
Since early January, WMA has been working closely with the Arthur R. Outlaw Mobile Convention Center, The Battle House Renaissance Mobile Hotel & Spa, and Renaissance Mobile Riverview Plaza Hotel to provide attendees with the cleanest and safest environment to ensure an enjoyable experience.
Mobile Convention Center (MCC) employees are required to participate in a company health screening before the start of the workday and are required to wear facemasks. Hand sanitizer dispensers are placed in high traffic areas throughout the convention center. Since June 2020, the MCC has been holding events and providing a safe venue for groups.
The Battle House Renaissance Mobile Hotel & Spa, and Renaissance Mobile Riverview Plaza Hotel employees will be required to wear masks during the WMA event. Hand sanitizer stations are available at both properties.
The Mobile Airport Authority continues to work closely with state and government partners on the latest developments with the COVID-19 Delta variant.
WMA 56th Annual Convention & Tradeshow is moving forward with its in-person event. However, attendees will be required to wear masks - as we have grown accustomed to the past 18 months. WMA will be coordinating with its vendors to ensure all attendees and exhibitors feel safe and protected.
WMA Safety Precautions
Your health and safety during this event is our top priority. World Millwork Alliances continues to work closely with the Arthur R. Outlaw Mobile Convention Center, The Battle House Renaissance Mobile Hotel & Spa, and Renaissance Mobile Riverview Plaza Hotel to enact protocols to ensure a safe and enjoyable attendee experience. The convention venues have stringent cleaning procedures and safety standards in place.
Here is what to expect at the WMA Registration Desk:
- Masks will be required for attendees at the Mobile Convention Center, Renaissance Hotels and at all WMA convention program events.
- Registration badges and a face mask will be in sealed bag.
- All onsite registrations will be handled by WMA staff members with as little contact as possible.
- The program schedule, exhibitor listing, and booth numbers will be easily accessible to attendees through the WMA QR code located on the show badge. Other show details can be reviewed in the program guide on the WMA website and provided at show.
The choice of "Green" or "WMA Black" lanyard will be offered. Green will indicate those who want to "meet with others but are cautious" and WMA black will indicate those open to a "handshake and feel comfortable".
In addition:
- Meeting rooms will be configured to allow for more distance between attendees.
- Hand sanitizers will be available throughout the convention center, hotels, and at the WMA registration desk.
Please contact WMA headquarters with any questions.
Exhibitors: Below is an update from Freeman Corporation on their requirements as of 8/2/2021.
As a leader in our industry, it’s our responsibility to ensure we protect it, our people, and you. Today, Freeman announced several new policies to protect the health and safety of our team, our customers, and our industry, and I want to share them with you.
Effective August 1, Freeman will require anyone on our property or show site to wear a mask and practice social distancing. This includes our union team members.
Also, all Freeman employees must show proof of vaccination, or a negative COVID-19 test result within the past 3 days. Science shows that vaccines are the number one thing we can all do to prevent infection and stop the spread of this disease, so we are also offering an incentive to all Freeman employees to get vaccinated. Our incentives include a financial reward for those who are vaccinated as well as additional time off if our team reaches a vaccination goal.
We hope our policy changes will cause others to join us so we can protect the return to face-to-face events and the thriving industry and work we love. As always, thank you for your continued partnership.
We are looking forward to seeing you soon!
