HP has made the decision to postpone Invent 2002, the worldwide developer conference which had been scheduled to take place May 28-31, 2002 in Las Vegas, NV. As the planning for this event has progressed, customers have communicated that current economic conditions have forced them to change their level of participation in these types of events. While they found the content compelling, in light of current market and business conditions, many tell us it is difficult to commit the people and financial resources they would like to attend remotely located multi-day events. The appeal of centrally-located training events and conferences has been reduced for this community and so we have changed our plans to better meet their needs.

HP plans to modify the format of the Invent 2002 content and deliver web-based and regional events that are highly focused on technologies and topics. To best meet developer needs, we will continue to deliver strong value to them through other vehicles including our very popular, Invent Online web-based developer seminar series. The postponement of this event will enable us to provide better details on merged HP and Compaq technologies.

While tactics may change, HP's goal remains constant: to provide developers with innovative tools, rich technical content, a thriving community and world-class support that is platform and language independent.
