Visas/Passports

[Last updated 08/31/10]

Attendees are responsible for obtaining the necessary travel documents to attend WTS+PTE 2010. Due to long lead times, holidays and possible delays, we advise them begin the application process for these travel documents as soon as possible. NOTE: Symantec will not be responsible for any fees incurred as part of the visa application process or due to late processing.

Visa Waiver Program
As of January 12, 2009 a Visa Waiver Program (VWP) was put in place for which travelers are required to obtain a travel authorization via the Electronic System for Travel Authorities (ESTA) prior to traveling to the United States. The VWP allows visitors from participating countries to travel to the US for business or pleasure for 90 days or less without obtaining a visa. Click here for frequently asked questions and answers regarding the ESTA program.
Participating Countries:

Andorra, Australia, Austria, Belgium, Brunei, Czech Republic, Denmark, Estonia, Finland, France, Germany, Hungary, Iceland, Ireland, Italy, Japan, Latvia, Liechtenstein, Lithuania, Luxembourg, Malta, Monaco, The Netherlands, New Zealand, Norway, Portugal, San Marino, Singapore, Slovakia, Slovenia, South Korea, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland, and United Kingdom

Please visit https://esta.cbp.dhs.gov/ to begin the process. There are no fees associated with the ESTA program, but any visa or passport fees outside this process are at your own expense.

Visa Requirements
Those employees outside the above list of countries will need a visa to enter the state of Nevada in the United States. A visa allows a foreign citizen to travel to the US port of entry and request permission of the US immigration inspector to enter the country. The "visitor" visa is a nonimmigrant visa for persons desiring to enter the US temporarily for business (B-1). For more information on (B1) Business Visitor Visas and requirements please visit the US Department of State’s website: http://www.travel.state.gov/visa/temp/types/types_1262.html#6. The Department of State recommends this site as your first source of visa information; please review the information carefully.

For an additional visa overview, select the US Department of State visa portal site. It is also recommended that you review the Embassy Consular internet site for the country in which you will apply for your visa. To find the embassy in your country please visit http://www.usembassy.gov/.

Passport Requirements
US citizens traveling between the US and Canada, Mexico, the Caribbean, and Bermuda by land or sea (including ferries), could be required to present a valid US passport or other documents as determined by the Department of Homeland Security as part of recently established regulations.
All international travelers need a valid passport. The passport must be valid for 6 months AFTER the event date, i.e. 6 months after March 2011.
